The Secret Formula of Success in IT

Delve into discovering the hidden formula for success in IT

The Secret Formula of Success in IT

There is only one way you can become a developer.

It's pretty straightforward, takes around 1 year

BUT

Nobody is doing that!

But Why Should You Become a Developer?

Well, if you are here, you probably know the answer.

But if you don't - here you are:

Nowadays, everyone SHOULD HAVE an ONLINE SKILL.

Because online job gives you, so much flexibility.

You are safe if another Virus hits the world and everything will close.

You structure your day in any way you want (a lot of people still screw it up, but it's a topic for another email xD).

You can easily move to a different city, country or even CONTINENT!

And Programming is the most high-paying online skill 🤑,

it's not abstract as you ACTUALLY CREATE THINGS that are used by millions of people,

and it's AI-resistant, regardless of what a lot of people say.

(think: "Who is easier to replace a call-centre agent who reads pre-written scripts or a developer who creates unique solutions to complex problems every day?")

Another important thing, that nobody mentions is that programming gives you the ability to CREATE BUSINESSES 🤑.

I think everyone has an interesting idea of a cool app or website.

But to start a business around it you will have to build it.

Hiring developers to do that will cost you somewhere around $10,000 to $100,000 depending on the complexity of your app.

Do you have an extra $10k-$100k for your business idea?

And if you know how to code, you can start a potentially successful business with $0,

as you can code the whole website/app by yourself in your free time!

That's why I think coding is the best online skill to learn!

The secret formula for becoming a developer

Okay, we are getting to the juicy part 🧃...

That's actually why you opened this email.

And, no. It wasn't a clickbait.

I actually have the step-by-step formula for becoming a developer, so let's break it down.

🏫 Step 1 - Choose where to learn

Everybody asks me:

Andrew, what is the best place to learn programming?

And the answer is always:

There is no 'the best' place to learn it.

There are only 2 places where you can learn how to code:

Online websites/platforms/articles/tutorials/courses a.k.a on your own

This method will be almost free.

But as a trade-off it will take a lot of time, and based on my experience most people

are not able to discipline themselves enough to overcome the stress, difficult moments

and choose the right learning path on their own.

Coding Academy/School

Compared to the previous method, this one will require a certain investment.

But it will significantly speed up your learning process and will increase your chances of success.

But be careful ⚠️, some coding academies charge a lot of money and give old and outdated knowledge and bad support.

That's why I've created my own academy that fixes those problems, but it's a different story :)

I'm not mentioning universities here, because none of the universities ❌ actually give you all the skills you need for the job.

🏗️ Step 2 - Build stuff

Hiring you is a huge financial risk for companies,

as they will spend money for the recruitment process,

they will spend money educating you,

they will spend money on the project for you.

Spend, spend, spend...

And only if you are a good fit they will start getting value back from you,

and after some time the investment will start paying off ... MAYBE 🤔!

That's why you need to prove to the company, that there are no risks in hiring you.

Ideally, you need to show that:

  • You know how to build things and solve problems on your own
  • You can learn new things fast
  • You are a good communicator, so colleagues and clients will love you

The best way to demonstrate those things is to show your projects and PRESENT them with some charismatic explanations.

And the only way to be confident about your skills and projects is to build a lot of them.

So come up with some creative project ideas and make those projects shine ✨!

While building projects, you will learn so many things, that will actually make you a good coder and give you the confidence to talk about those projects freely.

💼 Step 3 - Fight for the Job

Getting your first job in the industry is hard.

But it's not impossible and 100% worth it.

Here you need to be more creative than everyone else:

  • Don't just apply through the 'Apply' button.
  • Build connections in the industry.
  • Reach out to companies directly.
  • Or even just go to their office, why not??

The only way to fail at this stage is to give up.

Sooner or later you will get an invitation to the interview, and after a couple of interviews, you will eventually pass it.

But if you are not getting any invitations to interviews, in 99% of the cases you need to change something about the way you apply for jobs.

  • 📄 Tweak your CV or portfolio of projects.
  • 🛣️ Use a more creative approach in applying.
  • 💼 Consider applying for internships or to smaller companies.

Just keep looking for opportunities and don't forget to improve your skills, your job-searching process and self-presentation.

And it will be just a question of time when you get your first offer :)

Conclusion

With consistent work, this path will take from 6 to 18 months, depending on how much time you spend per week, your abilities and previous experience ✅.

There are no hidden steps to success.

Just choose the right place to learn, learn consistently, build projects and fight for your first job.

It will take some time, but the formula itself is very simple, but still most people don't follow it.

Instead, they waste years jumping from one technology to another without a plan.

If you have a plan, just stick to it!

Since you are reading this, you are already ahead of a lot of people, so just KEEP GOING 💪!
